Francesco MacAllister-Caruso

Biography

Francesco MacAllister-Caruso (he/him or they/them) is a PhD candidate in political science at Concordia University. A recipient of the Trudeau, Vanier, and Ricard Scholarships, their research explores the political representation, citizenship, and policy problems facing Two-Spirit, trans, and nonbinary people in Canada. With over a decade of experience in grassroots advocacy, Francesco grounds their work in community-based, participatory, and citizen-led research approaches. From 2020 to 2025, they worked as a communications professional at the Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC), a national nonprofit focused on improving the health and well-being of sexual and gender minorities. Since 2022, Francesco has also served as project coordinator for a national study on the advocacy efforts of affirming parents of trans youth, bridging policy research with lived experience. Outside of academia, they enjoy baking, gardening, video games, and listening to podcasts.
